Nora Castañeda, Hydrogen Business Manager at Sener, emphasizes the role of ports in the deployment of green hydrogen in the energy sector magazine Energética.

In an article recently published in the energy magazine Revista Energética, Nora Castañeda, Hydrogen Business Manager at Sener, highlights the role of ports as catalysts for the deployment of green hydrogen. For this renewable energy to be competitive, all possible synergies are being explored, and one of them is the location of energy hubs at import and export points such as ports.

The reason is flexibility, essential in the current context of energy uncertainty, not only in terms of the type of molecule to be consumed, but also where it is produced and used. Focusing the development of supply and demand on port hubs will enable the quantity of energy produced to be adjusted according to the needs of the global energy market.

This leading role of ports is already taking shape in agreements such as the one signed by Bilbao and Amsterdam at the end of 2023, the aim of which is to explore the creation of an intra-European renewable hydrogen corridor connecting Spain, the Netherlands and Germany.
