The BH2C, with 54 projects in its portfolio, holds its 5th General Assembly at the EIC (Energy Intelligence Center), and now ranks as one of the leading hydrogen valleys worldwide.

In 2024, the Basque Hydrogen Corridor (BH2C) consolidated its position with a small increase in the number of its members and projects. This was one of the things pointed out by José Ignacio Zudaire, President of the Association, at the Annual Assembly of the BH2C, held on Thursday, 23 January, at the Energy Intelligence Center (EIC) in Abanto-Zierbena.

Over the past year, the BH2C has been selected by Mission Innovation - Clean Hydrogen Mission (CHM) as one of the world's leading Hydrogen Valleys. In this respect, one of the achievements of the BH2C highlighted at the Assembly was the 71 different activities undertaken in 2024 to position the organisation as a strategic initiative in the Basque, Spanish and European administrations. Several significant examples were singled out, such as the presence of the Association at the European Hydrogen Energy Conference (EHEC) and the World Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam.

During the Assembly, José Ignacio Zudaire also drew attention to the partnerships, collaborative ventures and associations that strengthen and help the BH2C to grow, such as the Hydrogen Valley Alliance, comprising the main valleys and ecosystems that are working on this energy vector throughout Spain. Another key milestone has been the official launch in December of the EIC Foundation, of which the BH2C is a member. The foundation, set up in July, is expected to play a strategic role in various initiatives in the Basque Country to support the energy transition.

The BH2C currently has 54 projects being taken forward by its member organisations across the entire value chain, making it a clear benchmark in this field. Projects included in the Association's portfolio in 2024 include OFFSH2ORE WIND, led by Saitec; H2SALT, led by Team Ingeniería; UnLOHCked, led by the University of the Basque Country; H2EAT, led by Fagor Ederlan; H2INTEGRA, led by Petronor; H-ACERO 2, led by Sarralle; H2BIDEA, led by Nortegas; and H2Puritylab, led by Bureau Veritas. It was also announced that five new organisations joined in 2024, namely Bureau Veritas, Fagor Ederlan, Saitec, Tamoin and Team Ingeniería, bringing the total number of members to 72.

In 2025, BH2C will continue to drive forward its internal activities, facilitating synergies and collaboration and promoting the development of its different projects through meetings of its 5 different activity areas, or Verticals, namely Production; Transport, Distribution and Storage; Use in Industry; Use in Mobility; and Cross-Cutting projects. In addition, the BH2C is consolidating its position and image as a leading initiative in the field of hydrogen, both nationally and internationally.
