The BH2C, identified as a strategic R&D+I project decisive for the future of the Autonomous Region of the Basque Country.
The BH2C appears in a recent article on hydrogen in the newspaper Deia, which highlights its value as a strategic R&D&I project considered decisive for the future of the Autonomous Region of the Basque Country. The newspaper highlights the work of the BH2C, supported by an investment of 1.5 billion euros and regarded as a driver initiative of the region's energy transition and an enabler of progress towards the decarbonisation of the Basque economy.
The article highlights the major effort being made by Basque companies to adapt and pioneer both the manufacture and use of green hydrogen across the entire value chain, aware of the important role that hydrogen will play in the future of the energy mix in the Basque Country.
In this respect, stand-out initiatives being taken forward include the Energy Intelligence Center-EIC and the Basque Hydrogen Strategy 2030, the objective of which is to achieve an installed electrolyser capacity of 300 MW and for 100% of the hydrogen produced to be of renewable origin, with zero or low CO2 emissions. Part of the role of the BH2C is to extend the application of green hydrogen to the fields of mobility, building and industry, including heavy industry, such as the energy-intensive steel industry.
