Feature article on the BH2C in Enpresa Bidea.
In the words of Iñigo Ansola, General Manager of EVE and Vice-President of the Basque Hydrogen Corridor Association, the BH2C is a highly strategic initiative designed to develop a renewable hydrogen economy and to contribute to the decarbonisation of industry in complex electrification processes. The 49 projects promoted within the BH2C will involve an investment of 1.1 billion euros up to 2026. In those projects, hydrogen will also play an important role as a means of energy storage.
Mr. Ansola also points out that the aim is to create a market, through public-private collaboration, in the areas of production; transport, distribution and storage; industry; mobility and other indirect projects, adding that BH2C projects will enable a reduction of 230,000 tonnes of CO2 over the next few years. The objective for 2026 is to reach 132.5 MW of power capacity through electrolysers, to produce 8,000 tonnes of synthetic fuels per year and 21,000 tonnes of hydrogen per year.
