FHa to take part in the HyCooler project to develop a pre-cooling system for hydrogen refuelling stations.

HyCooler is a project to develop a compact and efficient pre-cooling system designed specifically for hydrogen refuelling stations. Currently, heavy-duty vehicles lack a standardised regulatory operational protocol, making this initiative even more relevant. The primary objective is to validate a component on a test bench that can be directly integrated into refuelling stations. The component will be versatile, easy to install, modular and cost-competitive, in line with the objectives of the Hydrogen Roadmap.

Within the project, the Aragón Hydrogen Foundation (FHa) is responsible for designing and developing a test bench at its facilities, capable of subjecting the equipment to tests to confirm its correct operation. The test bench will have the capacity to simulate the filling of an HGV tank at 350 bar, controlling the filling flow rate. Furthermore, it will monitor all test conditions to compare the results with numerical simulations and regulatory data.

This project, coordinated by Sfice Innovative Minds and with the participation of FHa, not only represents a significant technological advance, but is also an important step towards the effective implementation of hydrogen refuelling stations, contributing to a more sustainable and efficient future for heavy vehicle transport.
