The IDOM-Ariema consortium set to spearhead European hydrogen safety efforts.
The Clean Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (CHJU) has awarded the IDOM-Ariema Consortium a framework contract for the creation, organisation, management and coordination of the European Hydrogen Safety Panel (EHSP), a key initiative aimed at ensuring and promoting the safe adoption of hydrogen technologies across Europe.
The EHSP was launched by the CHJU in 2017 to support the development and roll-out of inherently safer hydrogen systems and infrastructure, with a view to helping to develop, introduce and use hydrogen and fuel cell technologies safely in projects and in society at large. Under this new contract, the IDOM-Ariema Consortium will deliver a wide range of services that will build on this foundation to further enhance the impact of the EHSP.
Key activities include:
- Continuing support at programme and project level, ensuring that EU-funded projects incorporate state-of-the-art hydrogen safety practices and identifying existing gaps.
- Expansion of the Hydrogen Incident and Accidents Database (HIAD 3.0).
- Development of training materials and coordination of workshops to improve safety competences across all stakeholders.
- Improvement of public outreach through the creation of a specific website that will act as a hub for knowledge and awareness of hydrogen safety, featuring interactive tools, FAQs and resources for a diverse audience of users.
