Petronor reports to the Basque Parliament on its industrial transformation and decarbonisation.

José Ignacio Zudaire, Deputy CEO of Petronor, has appeared before the Committee for Sustainability, the Environment and Natural Resources of the Basque Parliament to report on the industrial transformation and decarbonisation strategy of Petronor.

Repsol/Petronor has committed to net zero emissions by 2050 to make the current refinery more efficient and decarbonised. The company's transformation strategy has three key areas: efficiency to reduce consumption and emissions; the modification of current units and their conversion to new low-carbon products; and the development of new processes focused on decarbonised products. This transformation towards the refinery of the future is being rolled out through 25 projects and an investment of over 800 million euros.

In this context of decarbonisation, Mr. Zudaire also reported on the projects of the Basque Hydrogen Corridor, or BH2C, the objective of which is to develop a renewable hydrogen economy in the Basque Country.  The BH2C brings together 70 organisations with 50 ongoing initiatives involving an investment of 1.1 billion euros over the period 2023-2026.
