Petronor shares its vision as an essential player in the decarbonisation of the Basque Country.
In an interview with the Onda Cero radio station, the President of Petronor, Emiliano López Atxurra, has explained what the refinery means for the region in both energy and economic terms, and has outlined how it is adapting to the decarbonisation process. The Petronor refinery is in a constant process of updating and adapting its production processes to meet the objective of producing decarbonising fuels by 2050. Questioned on how the company is trying to ensure that this decarbonisation process does not reduce their production, the President of Petronor explained that when the electricity sector evolves technologically, the company has to substantially change its market focus. With an industrial base and a commitment to technology, any industry can evolve in line with the needs of the market or, in this case, the obligations of decarbonisation. "Petronor is an essential player in decarbonisation because we are the benchmark industrial company capable of decarbonising important mobility and industrial sectors", explained Mr. López Atxurra, adding that the refinery is preparing for the future with hydrogen as a feedstock and with synthetic fuels. He also explained the relevance of electrolysers in future hydrogen markets. Source: Onda Cero |
