The BH2C showcases its hydrogen ecosystem as an example in a seminar on decarbonisation in the Atlantic Arc organised by Basque Trade & Investment.
The event organised by Basque Trade & Investment was held on Wednesday 6 November in the Auditorium of the Maritime Museum, Bilbao (Bizkaia), under the title ‘Technological leadership as a strategy for decarbonisation. A vision from the Atlantic Arc: Basque Country, Navarre, Aquitaine’.
In it, the Basque Hydrogen Corridor (BH2C) outlined how the challenge of the energy transition can best be taken advantage of. Asier Madariaga from Alba Emission Free Energy explained that the BH2C is not only looking to create a hydrogen ecosystem in the Basque Country rooted in a strategy of public-private collaboration that enables progress to be made in decarbonisation, but also to use this initiative as a lever for the economic recovery of the region.
The seminar also featured an overview of outstanding success stories in the field of renewable energies, clean technologies and energy efficiency, a discussion on the subject of so-called ‘hidden champions’, companies that are world leaders in highly specialised market niches, and an intervention by Ibone Bengoetxe, Vice-Premier of the Basque Country, who highlighted the role of innovation as a key factor behind decarbonisation. The event was held as part of a concerted effort to lay the foundations for a joint strategy in this field between the Basque Country, Navarre and Nouvelle-Aquitaine.
