The Clean Hydrogen Partnership and Hydrogen Europe both single out the BH2C among European hydrogen valleys.

During the webinar ‘H2Talk: From Hype to Pipe: How Hydrogen Valleys drive the H2 Economy’, organised by Hydrogen Europe on Monday 24 March, the Clean Hydrogen Partnership and Hydrogen Europe both made special mention of the Basque Hydrogen Corridor. The aim of the event was to highlight the importance of hydrogen valleys and their role in the context of the new economic and political realities, in line with the Clean Industrial Deal.

Danica Maljković, Chair of the Clean Hydrogen Partnership, singled out the BH2C as an example of a successful European hydrogen valley. For his part, Jorgo Chatzimarkakis, CEO of Hydrogen Europe, highlighted the 17 mobility projects and 6 industry decarbonisation projects currently underway in the BH2C as part of the organisation's commitment to hydrogen research. Maribel Rodríguez, Hydrogen Director at Repsol, explained the importance of having off-takers and of collaboration between the different organisations involved in the development of hydrogen valleys.

The webinar also covered the lessons learned from ongoing European and international projects, and the key success factors to take into consideration when preparing a project that will apply hydrogen technologies in real work environments. The webinar participants also emphasised the importance of funding and how regions around the world can work together to address challenges and support the economic sustainability of hydrogen projects. Finally, the actions that stakeholders must take to integrate hydrogen valleys into the European hydrogen market and meet the ambitious targets for 2030 were discussed.
