The BH2C takes part in the Industry Decarbonisation Forum of the Energy Cluster.
The latest meeting of the Industry Decarbonisation Forum, coordinated by SPRI and jointly organised by the Basque Energy Cluster, the Basque Environment Cluster, the Basque Foundry and Forging Cluster, the Basque Paper Cluster and the Basque Steel Cluster, was held on Friday 15 November at the BEC (Barakaldo).
The event began with an overview by SPRI of the current situation of the Net-Zero Basque Industrial SuperCluster (NZBISC) initiative, and an analysis of the potential of oxy-combustion for the decarbonisation of Basque industry, prepared by NZBISC. This was followed by a presentation by NIPPON GASES on its experience in the application of this technology, and another by Jose Ignacio Zudaire, President of the Basque Hydrogen Corridor (BH2C), who reported on the progress and current status of the multi-sectoral initiative "Hard to Zero", the aim of which is to fully decarbonise the industrial sectors. The current status of the ‘All4Zero’ initiative was also presented.
In the second half of the event, two pitch presentations were given by UPV/EHU and GHI. Likewise, two R&D projects led by Sarralle and Fagor Ederlan were presented, and the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) gave an overview of hydrogen projects currently underway in the industrial sector. To close the day, the Energy Cluster presented a proposal to participate with a joint stand at the ‘Net Zero Tech’ fair to be held in June 2025 in Barcelona.
