CIDETEC participates in a new European project to develop 100% recyclable hydrogen containers.
CIDETEC Surface Engineering is participating in a new European project focused on improving the sustainability and circularity of complex products made of high-tech advanced multi-material composite structures which until now have been non-recyclable. To this end, CUBIC will research into the development of new bio-based materials, mainly from lignin and vegetable oils, to design new intermediate products that are 100% recyclable. These, in turn, will form the structures of two sustainable prototypes: a container for storing hydrogen gas and a car seat.
The new materials will be used individually or in combination with other materials to manufacture end products. The new range of materials will include reinforced polyamide sheets, pellets, powders and yarns, and resin-impregnated carbon fibre, amongst other products. CUBIC will also explore new dynamic chemistry technologies and processes to enable the combination of different intermediates in the same manufacturing process.
