Dutch companies visit Petronor.
On 6 March, a group of Dutch companies visited Petronor's facilities at the Energy Intelligence Center (EIC) to learn about the latest developments in the Basque Hydrogen Corridor and its collaboration with the Netherlands. They also took part in a session on sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) to address the need to decarbonise the sector.
The meeting, coordinated by the Dutch embassy on the occasion of the "Green Hydrogen Program", included a visit to the Petronor facilities. It is not the first meeting with representatives from the Netherlands as, a couple of months ago, the ports of Amsterdam and Bilbao, together with several energy companies including Petronor, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to combine efforts for the development of a renewable hydrogen corridor between Bilbao and Amsterdam.
Roel Nieuwenkamp, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Spain, stressed that: "The Netherlands is working hard to create a clear framework for the expansion of green hydrogen. The development of green hydrogen is particularly important to make Europe more resilient and less energy dependent. One of the main industrial sectors targeted by this cooperation is aviation. The port of Amsterdam has a direct connection to one of Europe's largest airports, Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. The aviation industry is facing a major decarbonisation challenge, and green hydrogen and SAF are seen as key to addressing this challenge."
