The II Technical Conference on Electrolysers brings together over 100 representatives from Basque companies and the electrolyser manufacturers Nel, Accelera by Cummins, FEST, Nordex Electrolyzers and Plug Power.

The conference, held on 3 July at the EIC and co-organised by the BH2C and the Energy Cluster, brought together Basque organisations and representatives from the leading electrolyser manufacturers Nel, Accelera by Cummins, FEST, Nordex Electrolyzers and Plug Power.
Electrolysers are key technology enablers for the decarbonisation of industrial processes and mobility sectors, and the industry plans to increase its production tenfold to be in a position to deliver the goal of the Net Zero Emission Scenario by 2050. To do so, system manufacturers, component and material suppliers, industrial users of electrolysers and other stakeholders along the hydrogen value chain must address and successfully overcome significant challenges.
The event provided an opportunity to exchange views on the latest forecasts on electrolyser manufacturing capacity, technology preferences and cost reductions, and R&D innovation, highlighting a major breakthrough in terms of industrial benchmarks for hydrogen production projects using electrolysis. However, the manufacturers agreed that the market has slowed down over the last 12 months, mainly due to a lack of financing, and this has meant that many of the planned projects are being postponed. Despite this, manufacturers expressed confidence that these investment decisions will eventually be taken, and are promising to have the production capacity to respond when the market stabilises.
Finally, the conference provided those present from Basque companies across the entire hydrogen value chain with the opportunity to meet and network with leading international electrolyser manufacturers through a session of B2B meetings.
