Petronor presents its main energy transition initiatives to a Committee of the General Assembly of Bizkaia.
The members of the Natural Environment and Agriculture Committee of the General Assembly/Provincial Parliament of Bizkaia have visited Muskiz to learn about the activities and projects being taken forward by Petronor. The visitors were welcomed by Jose Ignacio Zudaire, Deputy CEO of Petronor, and Manu Núñez, Director of Petronor Innovation, who gave a presentation on the company's decarbonisation strategy, including the first electrolyser in the Basque Country to produce green hydrogen, which was commissioned in October 2023. Petronor is a driver company in the province of Bizkaia, directly employing more than 900 people and accounting for 5.5% of the total tax revenue of the Basque Country Tax Office, a total of 936 million euros. On their visit, the group toured the refinery facilities and learnt about Petronor's current energy transition projects focused on technology, industry and sustainability. They were also shown the 2.5W electrolyser that will decarbonise fuel production at the refinery and supply the hydrogen needed for the green hydrogen mobility initiatives to be launched at the Ezkerraldea-Meatzaldea Technology Park, which is also the site of Petronor's new offices. The company's investment forecasts for 2024 are 167 million euros in both the refinery and the new projects. Source: Petronor |
