Sarralle updates on the latest developments in the H-ACERO project at Steel Tech 2023 in Bilbao.
Sarralle has had the opportunity to present the H-ACERO project at the international Steel Tech Congress held in Bilbao, where steel, technology and innovation have come together.
Led by Sarralle, the project aims to contribute to the decarbonisation of the steel sector, using hydrogen as an alternative energy source at various stages in the steel production process.
Eleven other Basque companies and leading organisations in the sector are participating in this project alongside Sarralle, namely: Aceralava - Tubacex Group, Arcelor Mittal Olaberria-Bergara, Calcinor - Kelsen, Insertec, Nervacero - Celsa Group, Nippon Gases, the Siderex cluster, Sidenor, Tubos Reunidos Group, and the Tecnalia and Ceit technology centres.
The project has four activity areas: one focused on the development of advanced equipment; another focused on consumables, such as the refractory; a third on the fuel source itself (hydrogen); and finally, an area related to the production process. In addition, as a final phase, small-scale prototype demonstrators are being built to validate the different designs developed in the course of the project.
