Nemak, the global automotive parts manufacturing company, joins the Basque Hydrogen Corridor (BH2C).
Nemak, the global automotive parts manufacturing company, has joined the BH2C as leader of the GHEMAK project "Aluminium industry based on new technologies and processes, with intensive application of hydrogen".
The aim of the project is to contribute to the decarbonisation of the aluminium sector, using hydrogen as an alternative energy source in the aluminium recycling and production process.
To achieve this, a process will be developed for the industrial use of H2 in the recycling of aluminium for the die-casting sector, with a view to achieving a sustainable and circular hydrogen-based production of aluminium.
GHEMAK is a project approved under the HAZITEK 2022 call. The project is led by Nemak, with the participation of GHI Hornos Industriales and the Tecnalia technology centre.
Within the BH2C, the GHEMAK project is included in Vertical 3: Industry.
