The President of the Basque Hydrogen Corridor Association, José Ignacio Zudaire, has revealed that the BH2C will have the first renewable hydrogen available for use in industry this year.
On 14 February, World Energy Day, José Ignacio Zudaire, President of the Basque Hydrogen Corridor Association, was interviewed on Boulevard, the Radio Euskadi magazine programme. In the course of the interview, Mr Zudaire announced that this year will see the first results of the work undertaken by the BH2C over the last two years, with the first green hydrogen for use in industry, mobility and building maintenance.
He also revealed that two potential sites for hydrogen storage are currently under study, both in Bizkaia (around 20 kilometres from Petronor, one of the BH2C driver companies) but also partly in Cantabria and Burgos. However, he clarified that these "mega-warehouses" are planned for "a second phase, from 2030 onwards, when large-scale hydrogen pipelines will be operational.
That same day, an op-ed was published in El Correo newspaper highlighting the Basque Country's position in the race to develop hydrogen-based technologies.
